Overview
Scholarships for graduate studies abroad expose higher education faculty and staff to expertise and training in emerging disciplines that are still in the initial stages of development locally. It also paves the way for leadership in specific sectors, both in the academe and in the practice of particular specializations.
Opportunities for graduate studies abroad are made available in view of faculty development through:

Successful applicants shall be reimbursed the costs of required exams such as the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), among others.
Accplication is on a monthly rolling basis. Upon receipt of complete requirements, the results are usually released on the last week of the succeeding month. CHED reimburses successful grantees of total cost of all tests taken and approved. |
Faculty/staff who have already been accepted to a program in a university abroad but are hindered from pursuing their studies due to insufficient funds for livng expenses may apply for additional funding.
For the Ph.D. Sandwich Program, scholars with complete coursework in a local institution may conduct dissertation research for a year in a host institution abroad. |

Eligibility
- Have already gained admission to a top-ranking HEI abroad
- Have other sources of funding
- Be a Filipino citizen
- Not be more than 42 years old for applicants to master’s degree programs, not more than 40 years old for applicants to doctoral degree programs.
- Hold at least a bachelor’s degree for applicants to master’s degree program or a master’s degree for applicants to doctoral degree program
- Demonstrate strong academic record
- Be in good health and of good moral character
- Have no pending criminal charges, and must not have been convicted for violation of any Philippine Law
- Endorsed by the School President or Dean
- Be required by his/her SHEI to render return service through a notarized written undertaking.
Application
- Prospective scholars must have been accepted to the relevant program and/or scholarship for which they are seeking additional funding from the Commission
- Submit accomplished requirements:
