What is the CHED K to 12 Transition Program?

The full implementation of the K to 12 curriculum will result in a dramatic drop in enrollment in higher education institutions (HEIs) for a period of five years, from SY 2016-2017 to SY 2020-2021, resulting in decreased income for HEIs and their personnel. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) thus established the K to 12 Transition Program to leverage the transition period not only to mitigate the adverse impact on HEIs and labor, but to upgrade Philippine higher education by offering a range of grants that will allow personnel to retool, upskill and acquire stronger qualifications.

What are Sectoral Engagements?

In Sectoral Engagements, partners take in faculty grantees to perform particular roles in their respective institutions/organizations for a defined period. Partners benefit from higher education expertise for this duration as they tap grantees’ knowledge and skills to address real problems, while grantees gain a stronger sense of on-the-ground professional practice to inform and enrich learning and instruction in HEIs, allowing partners to take a proactive role in influencing instruction and helping forge stronger links with the academe.

Sectoral Engagements are established through partnerships between CHED and entities including, but not limited to, government agencies or offices, government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), private companies, industry organizations, non-government organizations (NGOs), and civil society organizations (CSOs).
