In line with the Commission’s efforts under the K to 12 Transition Program, a total of 4,090 faculty and staff nominees have been approved for the Graduate Education Scholarships (Local) for the first semester of Academic Year (AY) 2016-17 through CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) Nos. 3, 26, 28, 31, and 36 series 2016. Through said CMOs, the approved nominees have been provided with the policy framework for the scholarships and next steps and documentary requirements expected of each approved nominee.
To date, out of the 4,090 approved scholarship nominees for the first semester, the Commission has received 3,255 scholarship contracts, following the 24 June 2016 deadline for June-July starters, and the 20 July 2016 deadline for August-September starters. The Commission has since commenced the processing of scholar’s documentary requirements to facilitate the disbursement of scholarship privileges and incentives, particularly living allowances.
In the processing of said living allowances, the following are required: (1) correct and complete submission of signed tripartite contracts, (2) proof of enrolment of the scholar, and for thesis and dissertation grantees: (3) thesis/dissertation proposal.
- For scholars with complete and correct submissions, the processing of their living allowances has been fast-tracked and should be released within the next two (2) weeks.
- For those with incomplete and/or incorrect submissions, the speedy action of the scholars concerned is required in order to facilitate release of allowances.
We enjoin all scholars to submit pending requirements and coordinate closely with the Commission as we jointly work together to facilitate disbursement of living allowances at the soonest time. Rest assured, the Commission is working double-time to facilitate release. We are also committed to learning from this initial run of the scholarships, the experience of which shall inform the increase of efficiency in systems and processes in the forthcoming semesters.
